Q: Hypothetically speaking.... An alien ship comes to earth. Their mission is to determine the viability and worth of the human race. If found to be 'unworthy' by their standards, the race would be wiped out....They would meet only 100 people, and base their decision on that... I can't imagine what people I would want to represent the human race and and what kind of sampling they could find with just 100 people.... I could easily attest to finding in excess of 100 feminists who - I believe - to be very poor representatives of their movement. In fact, I often refer to them as hijacking the movement and its intentions. But sadly, they are always the loudest and the proudest - and the ones that are held responsible for representing the entirety of the movement. Do you think you can fairly judge feminism based upon a random sampling of 100 of its members? Prof - my point EXACTLY.... Alf - an excellent point. I think the movement would go a long way if they would only call out those members who put a very bad face on it... Doodle - I like your quote - ALOT. I've many times advocated for an abolition of feminism and a rise of a replacement movement that sought to achieve equality for ALL. The name feminism, in and of itself, seeks to exlude half the planet... Reb - yep, you're right. As is blah... Damn...where are all the crazies tonight?
A: Statistically, it's not a very accurate sample. But in reality people don't meet the 100 quiet sensible people calling themselves feminists - they only hear the loud/annoying/man-hating ones. If you meet a nice one, you might talk to a person or two. If you meet one who is rude/insane - you will tell everyone you know.
