Q: while i do agree that greedy banks loaning to people who can't pay the loans is a major contributor... but where is the personal responsibility to know when one can and can not afford a loan? why is it the media is not addressing the irresponsible borrower?
A: You have a great point ... individual consumers who bought houses they couldn't afford are at least as much to blame as anyone else. Probably moreso than anyone else. But politicians won't say that, and it's a better news story if you can blame Wall Street fatcats. Also, I fail to see how a lender is greedy if they are lending money to someone they know can't pay them back. That doesn't make the lender rich, it makes them bankrupt.
